Shopping for a Party of 11: Camden Fresh Produce Markets

It's the weekend and it's sunny, which means only one thing around P11 HQ - get thee to the markets! And this week we're talking Camden Fresh Produce Market.

Camden Fresh Produce Market is a true country market and you can tell as soon as you get out of the car. The views are incredible and it's located on the quiet side of town, so it's nice and relaxing.

Check out Camden Community Gardens right next door too!

There are about 25 stalls at the markets, so it doesn't take long to get around. But everything you could possibly need from a farmer's market is covered - fruit and vegetables, meats, cheeses, jams, breads and plants.

You can get fresh and cooked meat at Beefalicious, and loads of fruits and veg, flowers and plants. Razorback Olives do fresh lemon cordial, served in a bottle that looks like it came out of the garage (bottom right). You want rustic? Love it!

As the weather is improving, it's also a fantastic place to grab a coffee and a little something for breakfast. Berry Sourdough Bakery and Brasserie Bread both have stalls on a regular basis. Or, if you've had a big night, the lovely ladies at Beefalicious will do a bang up sausage sandwich for you. It wouldn't be a market without a Gozleme stall and Suzie's is at this one as well.

So, after you've enjoyed the fresh country air, foraged for your fresh produce and filled up on breakfast, there's only one thing you still need. A sweet treat for after you've cooked up your market loot. Try these, you'll thank me!

Dessertmakers

The only issue you'll have when confronted with these locally and lovingly prepared desserts is choosing one. I mean, how can you possibly decide between Fig and Ginger Pudding, Apple Crumble, Mixed Berry Crumble, Sticky Date Pudding and Bread and Butter Pudding? I certainly couldn't, so I bought two and gave my Party of 11 a choice. Both were delicious - there wasn't a crumb left! And as Dessertmakers share a stall with Country Valley, you won't forget the cream to serve your pudding with!

Prickle Farm Bakery

I was privileged to witness the start of something special when Prickle Farm Bakery held its very first stall ever at the markets a few weeks ago, selling the lightest, softest, most delicious cinnamon scrolls I've ever had. And lots of people who walked past and had a taste test agreed. I have no doubt this stall is going to be very popular when word gets around! Get a range of tasty cookies from Prickle Farm Bakery too.

Bite Size Desserts & Sweets

The cake pop craze seems here to stay, and why not? But you don't have to settle for bland shop-bought ones or go to the hassle of ordering them. Melinda sells her tasty range of Bite Size Desserts & Sweets at the markets, ready for you to take home for your Saturday night treat or special occasion. Having said that, mine didn't actually make it home!

If you do have a special occasion coming up though, Melinda can also make you a rocking cake pop centerpiece or some lovely party favours in flavours such as rich chocolate mud cake, baked vanilla cheesecake, rocky road and after dinner mint. Contact her here.
